Psychodrama Magic
Psychodrama – means “psyche in action” – it helps us explore our inner and outer worlds with dramatic methods. This versatile method, created by J Moreno, involves people taking roles, and offers an action structure that can be applied to a multitude of settings – educational workshops, community dialogues, organizational meetings, coaching and therapy. The goal of psychodrama is to help people explore their inner truths, express emotions freely and experiment with and establish authentic interactions with other
With psychodrama we are able to embody and experience our relationship with the “other” – whether the other is a part of ourselves or a person, place or thing. With psychodrama we can talk directly to our mother, father, sibling, partner, boss or neighbour rather than talk about them. We can time travel to the past and say what we did not say the first time around. We can revisit the past and improvise new endings to painful situations and we can imagine a new future by stepping into one or more possibilities.
Sociometry, its associated field, is helpful in enhancing relationships of all kinds, and is especially valuable for effective team-building in any workplace or group.
At the School of You, we run several workshops and therapy groups that use psychodrama as the modality. We also run several short term workshops on various psychodrama techniques that practitioners could use to enhance their effectiveness.
