The Family Scripts We Bring to Work: A workshop on Life Script, Family Roles and Leadership

This session is fully booked. Drop your interest below to be the first to know when the next one opens up.
In the meantime, explore our other offerings.
At work, many of us fall into familiar roles without quite noticing it. We become the person who keeps the peace, takes on too much, avoids conflict, proves their worth through achievement, or feels responsible for everyone else.
These patterns often make more sense when we look at the families we grew up in.
Transactional Analysis uses the term Life Script to describe the early conclusions and strategies a child develops about how to belong, stay safe and get their needs met. Some of these strategies become valuable strengths. Others may become rigid and continue to shape how we lead, collaborate and respond under pressure.
This workshop brings together the TA idea of Life Script and the Harvard Business Review article Family Ghosts in the Executive Suite by Deborah Ancona and Dennis N. T. Perkins.
We will look at
The roles we learned to play in our families
Family beliefs about success, authority, conflict and responsibility
Patterns around boundaries, secrets and triangles
The expectations we grew up with
How these patterns may appear in our working lives
Which parts of our script continue to help us, and which may now limit us
The workshop will include reflection, discussion and workplace cases. Participants will identify one pattern they would like to understand better and one different response they could begin to practise.
This is not therapy, and it is not about blaming our families. It is a structured opportunity to notice how early family dynamics may still influence the way we work and lead.
