Are you interested in learning a creative and powerful way of exploring and changing the inner and outer worlds of individuals and groups?

Psychodrama, a versatile method created by J Moreno, blends psychology with theatre and offers an action structure that can be applied to a multitude of settings – educational workshops, community dialogues, organizational meetings, coaching and therapy.

Psychodrama – means “psyche in action”. We embody our relationship with the “other” – whether the other is a person, place or thing, or a part of ourselves. The goal of psychodrama is to help people explore their inner truths, express emotions freely and experiment with and establish authentic interactions with others

With psychodrama, we can talk directly to say our boss, mother or say our feelings – rather than talk about them. We can time travel to the past, and say what we did not say and do what we could not do the first time around. We can revisit the past and improvise new endings to painful situations, and we can imagine stepping into the future with one or more possibilities.

The basic modality of psychodrama involves staging the participants’ realities, thus concretising and externalising their internal worlds. Although words are useful, action mobilises our entire selves. This brings us more deeply in contact with ourselves and encourages expression, exploration and change.

Psychodrama Magic will experientially introduce participants to this fascinating method. Participants will learn about the concept of roles and how to use this to expand a person’s role repertoire. They will learn the stages of psychodrama – Warm up, action and sharing, and experience the key techniques in psychodrama role reversals, mirroring, doubling and role-training. They will be introduced to sociometry and the various ways of using it with groups. They will also be introduced to the ideas of social and cultural atom.
